History. The journal at – Automatisierungstechnik was founded in 1953 in West Germany, at the time entitled rt – Regelungstechnik, nine years after the first German chair for automation control was established at the Technical University of Berlin-Charlottenburg. The first German institute entirely dedicated to automation control was founded in 1955 in Dresden.
